Public Speaking Program

Having the skills and ability to talk in front of a crowd is paramount. Given that public speaking is among one of the top fears in adults, Wind & Tide has created a one of a kind program designed just for children.

This Public Speaking Program teaches students how to confidently embrace the art of public speaking and the challenge of leadership by developing the skills necessary to speak clearly with meaningful messages, listen and organize information, and master their own speaking style.

Toastminors is a unique public speaking program designed for students in Grades 2 to 6, with separate classes for Grades 2 to 4 and Grades 4 to 6. Classes run one day per week, from October to May with a performance event in February and a formal presentation evening in May.

Our Toastminors program is designed to help students build a strong foundation in public speaking while developing strong interpersonal communication skills. Through engaging activities and interactive lessons, students will learn how to express their thoughts clearly, structure compelling speeches, and deliver their ideas with confidence.

Using a variety of fun presentation styles—including acting, comedy, advertising, and storytelling— students will practice key public speaking techniques such as eye contact, body language, and reading an audience. They will also explore the fundamentals of speech writing, learning how to organize their ideas, present key points, and craft strong conclusions.

Whether your child is looking to overcome public speaking anxiety or enhance their communication skills, Toastminors provides a supportive and inclusive environment where they can find their unique voice and speak with confidence.

Want to Continue the Journey to Confident Communication?

Often families want to give their child an opportunity to refine their ability to think on their feet, craft more compelling speeches, and develop greater confidence in expressing their ideas. By doing Toastminors for a second year they will continue to grow into a strong, articulate communicator.

Our newest program, Toastmajors, is designed for students who have mastered the foundations of public speaking by completing Toastminors. Aimed at students in Grades 3 to 6, classes are once a week at select locations.

Toastmajors offers an exciting next step in children’s public speaking journey by building on the foundational skills learned in Toastminors and transforming confident speakers into influential leaders. This program challenges students with more advanced speech topics, refined speech-writing techniques, and expanded leadership opportunities.

In Toastmajors, students will deepen their understanding of public speaking by crafting compelling speeches, mastering effective delivery techniques, and learning how to engage and inspire an audience. Through interactive lessons and real-world scenarios, students will craft speeches that inspire action, and engage in meaningful discussions that ignite change.

Whether advocating for a cause, leading a debate, or mastering the art of persuasion, Toastmajors empowers young voices to shape the future.
